Dillon, Montana is an authentic, historic western town, located in the heart of the Blacktail Mountain Range. Situated in a sweeping valley where horses and cows dominate the landscape, it offers some of the best flyfishing in the world. It’s a valley where the Ruby, Big Hole, and Beaverhead rivers drain and the Beaverhead offers a blue-ribbon trout steam that rivals any.
Downton Dillon is in the midst of a historic renaissance, as the renowned Andrus Hotel prepares to re-open with its beautiful restoration and over 50 buildings that recall Montana's formative years, line Main Street. Walking through downtown Dillon will give any visitor a true feeling of going back in time. With wonderful small shops, charming cafes, unique and friendly dining spots, beautiful scenery, and western hospitality, it’s sure to be a memorable visit. Some not to be missed "landmarks" - the Patagonia Outlet and Sweetwater Cafe, among many others.
For park and nature lovers, Bannack State Park, a registered historic landmark and the site of Montana's first major gold discovery, is also located just a short distance southwest of town.
Dillon, Montana with its breathtaking views, offers an abundance of outdoor recreation. Known as the "Horse Capital of the Northwest", this western town has some of Montana's most beautiful ranches, including the Montana Center for Horsemanship's nearly 100-acre, state-of-the-art education and destination event center where natural horsemanship is the foundation of the program; where special events from conferences to symposiums, worshops, clinics and other programs keep it in action throughout the year. Getting to Dillon
Whatever your route or means of travel to Dillon, Montana, you're sure to be enveloped in breathtaking scenery. Flying into Bozeman Airport is an easy way to get to Dillon. From the airport, rent a car and take a leisurely scenic drive into the heart of Dillon. It’s about two hours by car or you can take a Greyhound Bus from Bozeman to Dillon. You can also fly into Butte, Montana or Idaho Falls, Idaho. Both are about a 1.5 hour scenic drive to Dillon.
